- Inspect your roof and gutters. Secure looses shingles and clear out debris.
- Secure windows and doors. Install storm shutters or board up with plywood.
- Check your electrical systems. Schedule a professional inspection to ensure your panel, generator, and surge protectors are up to code.
3. Protect Your A/C and Plumbing
- Elevate your A/C unit if it is at risk of flooding
- Shut off the main water valve if instructed to evacuate.
- Schedule a pre-season tune-up with a licensed technician to ensure everything is running safely.
4. Stock Up Early
Waiting until a storm is announced means shelves are empty. Stock up now on:
- Water (1 gallon per person per day for 7 days)
- Non-Perishable food – make sure you have a can opener!
